New York, August 2017—Oyster Bay Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of its inaugural Summer Group Show in the historic town of Oyster Bay, New York, from 25 August through 15 September 2017. The opening reception will be held at Oyster Bay Gallery at 75 South Street and Southdown Coffee located at 49 Audrey Avenue in Oyster Bay Friday, 25 August from 5-7:30 pm.

The exhibition at 75 South Street comprises the work of eight artists – Theodora Sacknoff, Vincent Pidone, Domenic Difiglia, Robyn Bellospirito, Jerelyn Hanrahan, Matthew Fox Rosler, Ryan Goberdhan and Emily Harrison-Ach. The artwork featured primarily represents local New York artists, with the exception of Rosler, who resides in Portland, Maine. The works on view include realistic, modern bird paintings by Sacknoff, detailed insect-inspired works on paper from emerging artists, Harrison-Ach and Goberdhan, and site-specific oil paintings depicting iconic Oyster Bay locales by Difiglia. Bellospiritio’s dreamlike paintings reference the mythical and surreal, creating a subtle bridge to Hanrahan’s selection of stream-of-consciousness ink drawings from her travels in Europe. Pidone’s abstract explorations in pigment complement Rosler’s austere works on paper influenced by American Minimalists, Robert Mangold and Agnes Martin. The newly opened Southdown Coffee at 49 Audrey Avenue in Oyster Bay features five more of Sacknoff’s magnetic bird paintings.

Gallery hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 10 - 2pm and by appointment. For more information on Oyster Bay Gallery’s Summer Group Show and further exhibitions, please contact Kira Abribat, Gallery Director, at info@oysterbaygallery.com
